Find The Right Ticketing System

 

Follow this matrix of questions to determine which ticketing system will best satisfy your needs. There are plenty of other features to consider, but this should narrow things down quickly for you.

Feature:  Internet Ticketing

If Yes ...

Do you want customers to be able to buy tickets online from the same inventory of tickets that is being sold from the box office?

If Yes ...

Your on-line customers will need to pay a per-ticket fee on top of you ticket price.

You will also need to collect a per-ticket fee for each ticket sold in-house.

Is paying a reasonable per-ticket fee something that you considerable manageable?

If Yes ...

You need Box Office Xpress. This is a real-time Internet ticketing system. There is no need to read further.

If No ...

You will need to look at an in-house program and an allocated Internet ticket service.

You need Box Office Xpress Junior combined with the AdmiTix Ticket Centre (Canadian AdmiTix site).

If No ...

Do you need a ticketing program to create events, print your tickets, and track customer information?

If Yes ...

You need Box Office Xpress Junior combined with the AdmiTix Ticket Centre (Canadian AdmiTix site).

If No ...

You need the AdmiTix Ticket Centre (Canadian AdmiTix site).
The assumption here is that you are buying pre-printed tickets and just want to sell some or all tickets on the Internet.

If Yes ...

Are these venues located on the same premises and can the computers selling tickets all be connected to the same computer network?

If Yes ...

If No ...

You need Box Office Xpress, which includes Internet ticketing. Check the pricing under Feature: Internet Ticketing.

 

Feature:  Remote Sales Locations (sell tickets from locations other than your box office)

If Yes ...

If No ...

Feature:  Support for Venue with Over 1500 Reserved Seats (this is subjective, so check both options, anyway)

If Yes ...

But, Box Office Xpress Junior can work as well.

If No ...

You may just need Box Office Xpress Junior. Box Office Xpress Junior doesn't have any restrictions with the number of reserved, but it does limit seating to 875 seats per seating section. So, with larger venues, it may be a little awkward. Also, larger venues tend to want the additional features found in Box Office Xpress.

Note: Box Office Xpress Junior handles General Admission of any quantity, and is popular among colleges and universities for that purpose, so that isn't an issue here.

 

* Other than a setup fee to cover numerous expenses, there is no flat charge for the Box Office Xpress ticketing system, licenses, or future upgrades. The cost of the using the system is retrieved through per-ticket fees. The per-ticket fees vary for each organization depending on different factors, including your annual tickets sold. The example prices given are on the high side.
